Trail Overview
The Audubon Wetlands Trail, one of the newest additions to the Henderson area, winds through a young forest and wetland landscape. The 649-acre wetlands were once privately owned and were purchased at auction for $1.75 million by local residents Robbie Williams, Scott Keach, Houston Keach, Will Esche, Tom Dempewolf, and Tommy Dempewolf.
The area was introduced to the public in a small ceremony while future construction continued. At the time of the original posting, the trail consisted of packed gravel and a long boardwalk crossing a wetland area, leading into a small forested trail system.
About one mile of trail was open at that time, with plans for up to five miles as work continued.
